      ​Full-face mask for diving


      This training aims to acquaint the diver with the use of a full-face mask highlighting the pros and cons of this diving equipment, its potential uses and describing some of the models which are currently available on the market.

      The class lessons will cover the following points:
      • Full-face masks description
      • Diving applications
      • Full-face vs. diving helmet
      • Diving configurations
      • Safety issues
      • Potential contaminant ingression points
      • Pre and post-dive checklist
      • Cleaning and sterilizing procedures
      • Storing the full-face
      • Key features of some full-face masks

      The practical training goals are:
      • Pre and post-dive checks
      • Assessing the breathing rate when wearing the mask
      • Purging water out from a semi-flooded and a totally flooded mask
      • Mastering bail-out techniques
      • Understand the buoyancy and trim changes due to the full-face
      • Learn how to clean, disassemble and reassemble the mask 
      • Gain experience in diving with a full-face mask
      Risk management for scuba diving activities

      This course focuses on  risk management for scientific diving activities and it is aimed to identify the most common areas of potential hazards, the degree of their impact on the divers and possible mitigation strategies.

      The training is based on presentations and handouts and will include examples of risk management plans.

      Underwater navigation

      Accurate navigation is a key point for both safety and proficiency of underwater operations.

      This training aims to provide the diver with the knowledge and skills to navigate underwater, identify the best search patterns and to deploy transects.

      Underwater sampling techniques

      Collecting samples is one of the main activities of a Scientific Diver.

      In this module sampling methodologies for rocks, sediments and fluids are clearly explained also using practical examples of fieldwork activity.
